Please rollback iOS version 8.7

Player Version#: 8.7.1

The 8.7 series is broken. Please release 8.6 again to allow users to keep using Plex on Apple devices until fixed.

Some clarification would help.
What exactly is broken for you?

For me 8.7 is the first version in a while that isn’t broken.

The battery drain is one I have, but if I leave it plugged in for some background sounds it still gets really hot. And PiP and background play means switching apps to check a chat message or something usually crashes Plex in a few seconds.

There is Version 8.7 of Plex for iOS breaks casting to other devices - #5 by Stevenson-Price which is good to hear, assuming it fixes the other issues too. However, how long until that next release?

I wouldn’t assume anything more than said which is regarding that casting issue… there’s not even official feedback on the other issues.

It’s out:

OK so far so good. Can’t cook an egg on my phone and no crashing.

Lasted a while, but still hot and crashy.

Still crashing playing music in the background

….and no. iPhone 12 Pro Max with 8.7.2….still quite hot!

I too have issues since a couple of days now.
Situation:
playing a video (audio only, to my AirPods) in background (iPhone locked)

result:
App crashes systematically after a couple of minutes…

Still had this issue today, just now
App v8.7.2
iPhone 12
iOS 15.6

Same here. Listening to audio on 8.7.2, iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 15.6.
Crashes every few minutes. Loses my place in the audio, very frustrating. Only started with the new update.

I’m using version 8.7.2 on my iPhone and when listening to audiobooks it crashes from time to time, it seems to remember the point where it crashed, but I do need to keep press the play button from time to time to keep listening.

Good afternoon. Tell me, after the last two updates on iOS / MacOS, the PLEX application stopped launching. Everything works in the web version. great, everything works fine on LG/Xiaomi TV too. I only experience the problem on apple devices (iPhone 12 pro max, iPhone XS, MacBook 2020 M1). The server is installed on a QNAP NAS TS-453D (version 1.28.0.5999). Versions on devices are the latest from the AppStore. What I did: 1. QNAP rebooted - did not help, 2. Database optimization, package cleaning - did not help. 3. Reinstallation of applications on iOS, MacOS - at the first start it works until authorization to your account, after which the application crashes.
Below I will attach a crash report from MacOS and an archive of logs from PlexServer.
Plex Media Server Logs_2022-08-15_14-30-18.zip (5.4 MB)
Crash_MacBook.zip (17.8 KB)

I’m still seeing several issues on 8.7.2

  • Downloads keep being deleted then re-downloaded
  • Random crashes whilst listening to music
  • Skipping tracks ofter causes the previous track to keep playing at a low volume
  • Next track sometimes not automatically playing - it just loads up but paused

Same with crashes, both with music and videos (audio only). Logs - even verbose ones - don’t seem to suggest anything. It seems that the process just gets killed for some reason.

Tried rebooting the iPhone, still no luck.

iPhone 13, iOS 15.6.

App keeps crashing when streaming to bluetooth devices (haven’t checked playback on speakers).
Usually cannot finish a full song, app always just stops after 2-3 minutes of playback.

iPhone SE2, iOS 15.6, rebooting and closing all other apps did not help

The crash of the app whilst playing music was addressed in hotfix release 8.7.3

If issues persist, please upload iOS logs
