I love the deep selection of available posters and backgrounds for each movie, but could you adjust it so that when you rescan files, the posters don’t change? I prefer the older posters to some of the newer and more generic options that the poster selector will automatically choose.
As of right now, the only way to fix this is to select a poster for EACH movie in your library, even if you stick with the on it shows, you need to select it. This will LOCK the field. Their are scripts as well available for you to lock all posters currently if you think your library is close to good. Its a painful process for large libraries, trust me, I am only 3 letters in (#, A, B) of my library haha. Otherwise, when meta data is refreshed you run the risk of it being updated to something else.
I see the lock on the “titles” screen, but not on the “posters” and “backgrounds” page. Unfortunately, my library is pretty fluid and yeah, I just spend 30 minutes fixing posters, but it’s not the end of the world.
I hope they can script it, so when you rescan the posters stay the same unless you changed something. Cheers.
The posters menu DOES lock when a poster is selected manually by yourself, but it does not have a visual lock icon like all other fields.
There was a massive post somewhere in which some people offered links to scripts on how to automate locking the poster field in all your (current) movie posters. A lot of arguing that even locked posters were changing. But it seems that most likely people saw a poster was on a movie was perfectly fine, and never changed it (or entered the menu, and didn’t click on the current poster and closed it), which didn’t lock it.
I dislike this new poster provider with a passion. They pick the dumbest posters, and Plex prioritizes their posters over the ones provided by other sites (TMDB, IMDB, etc), even though Plex downloads from both sources anyway.
