Plex 1.4.1 on CentOS broke subtitles in Samsung APP

I have the same issue after updating to 1.4.1. PMS running on Windows. So this is not an OS issue.
On my Samsung KU6400 the subtitles are gone. I downgraded to the previous version, 1.3.4 and then it works again.
I see there is a new version, 1.4.2. I will install this update tonight and let you know if it worked. But there is no mention of a fix in the release notes. So I wonder…

Just tested 1.4.2 with my smart tv app (Samsung tv ks9000, app version 3.0.6(2.10.8), on Tizen 2.4.0. It doesn’t fix the issue, subtitles are still missing.

Update to v1.4.2. For me the issue is fixed on Samsung TV.

What client version do you have? With Samsung tv app 3.0.6 the issue seems to be still there after updating to 1.4.2

I just installed the new 1.4.2 PMS, but my Samsung KU6400 with Plex app version 3.0.6 is still not showing the subtitles. So the new version did not resolve this issue.
I will downgrade Plex again to 1.3.4 which works.

To any and all with this problem::

I’m working with the dev team on this right now.

Can you please do the following:

With Verbose logging off (Debug logging is all that’s needed)

  1. Provide the XML for the item being tested which recreates the problem. (skip ahead in the video if you need to)
  2. Capture a fresh set of log files using one version of PMS. Rename the zip file (settings - server - help - download logs) to match the version.
  3. Delete all log files (but not the Logs directory)
  4. Install the other version
  5. Demonstrate again.
  6. Capture those log files and name that zip appropriately.

Please attach all 3 items here. XML, and both ZIP files.

Thanks

Hi ChuckPA,

Thank you for your reply. I just did the testing as mentioned.
In attachment the requested files.

Please let me know if I can help you with other testing.

Thanks

03/20/17 - I removed the logfiles because the issue has been resolved with PMS 1.4.3

Any updates on this?

Yes, but not the kind of progress report I would hope to have. We’re trying to replicate it and can’t. Have you tried the latest PMS release?

Edit: I got word back from one of the devs. While not able to reproduce, they do see what’s wrong and think it’s already been fixed. It is/was a regression. More info is pending when I get the detailed feedback from the team leader.

If you need help reproduce, I experience the same issue (samsung ks7000, plex 1.4.2 on Docker). Force burning subtitle on server work, but it does hurt my server’s feeling a bit…

I think the key point is that we’re setting the subtitles not to be burned-in in the client settings.

I can confirm it is solved for my setup with new Plex release for linux.

With the latest PMS 1.4.3 the problem has been resolved!
