Player Version#:5.44.3
The new update broke subtitles, they just don’t appear, movies or tv shows, external srt, downloaded.
With some “testing” if I change the Burn subtitle setting, from Automatic to Always, I can see them, but they do not respect my other settings such as size and color.
Anyone else with this problem?

Me too, similar condition.
Media Server : DS918+, ver 1.27. & 1.28 (I downgraded, but still has a problem)
TV : Samsung, ver 5.44.3
When I play the movie with srt subtitle (Korean, UTF-8)
It shows broken subtitles intermittently.
srt, smi all format happened.
But if I choose setting to burn subtitle on video (always),
It show properly.
This happens after the latest update.
Please Help~
p.s When I play on iPad, the same subtitles are showed well

Same issue here since recent Plex update. SRT subtitles no longer appear for Movies or TV on Samsung QMQ7FR from my Plex Server. Used Plex client on iPad and PS4 to my Plex Server and no issue with SRT subtitles. Must be new version of Plex client on my Samsung TV.

the problem is direct play, when transcoding no problem but direct play or direct stream fail, the subtitule are srt

At this point it’s safe to say that a new bug was introduced with the latest version, hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Questions: Do you have any update as to when a fix might be released ? Can you not revert to/push the previous version that didn’t have the “broken subtitles” issue ?
I have a hearing impairment that necessitates I use subtitles when viewing Plex content. This bug is impacting my ability to watch Plex content on my Samsung TV.
Change the burn subtitle setting to Always, for now, that seems to work, but it wont use your preferred size or color for them.
I tried that but unfortunately my server isn’t powerful enough and I am getting a lot of buffering issues. Trying some work arounds using different Plex clients (iPad, PS4, Desktop) and screen-mirroring/casting.
