Plex access from outside, strange problem

Hi,

sorry in advance for my bad english.

I have a strange problem by connecting to my Plex server from outside. My problem is that the port 32400 is blocked in the network of my company.

So I changed the port to 80. As well in server settings from plex as in the router settings. Additionally I have added my dyndns address to the network settings of plex.

Now I can play music in my companies network, but only via web player. The server settings aren’t available in there. The desktop media player app doesn’t work. The interface is loading, but as soon I play a song it breaks down. Also I have to delete the app cache of the android app if I change from home network to mobile data.

I can’t locate the problem.

Server Version#: Synology NAS - 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
Player Version#: Windows 10 - Version 3.77.4

i tried to delete the dyndns address in the network settings. the problem is the same. :frowning:

Do you have a VPN program like iPvanish? They give a 7 day free trial. I would set the port back to 32400 and use a VPN to see if everything works as a test.

thanks for your reply.

Assuming it works, I have to conclude an additional subscription then so that it stays that way?

IPvanish is subscription based and not involved with Plex. If it works, you can try other free VPN services but free versions usually don’t work as well as the paid ones. For example, paid versions have more servers to use and provide faster speeds than free versions, etc.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I wouldn’t like to conclude an additional subscription. Maybe the free VPN will work.

But why is another port then 32400 a problem? The settings for this are available, but it wouldn’t work?
