Plex Adding Blank Files.......Example: $I0b9kph

Hello all,

I keep getting a load of these blank files whenever adding media or deleting media. Anybody know how to get rid of this?

Files are named like this: $Ie1jlhu, $I0b9kph

And I get hundreds of them at a time.

Sounds like you mixed up plex’s own data with your media files.

Is there a way to fix that issue? Im going to take a screen shot and upload it.

Did you change any of the default locations for the Plex data folder or the transcoder path?
(Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’ - “The path where local application data is stored”
and
Settings - Server - ‘Transcoder’ - “Transcoder temporary directory”) ?

Did you point any of your Plex libraries to the same folder which is used by one of the above settings? Edit your library(s), go to the ‘Add Folders’ tab to find out.

They must not share their folders.

Almost sounds like plex has access to your recycle bin.

I thought the same thing. So I make sure I clear the trash every time. However them same files are still there for hours. Then they just disappear.

Does plex have access to your recycle bin folder? Meaning, does one of your libraries paths point to the whole drive or a folder within the drive?

Click on one of those items and “get Info”
It will tell you the file path.
