Again Plex is adding most of my music collection (20,311 tracks} as “Recently Added in Music” So I lost many playlist that I have created, lost tags information added to artist like “country”, “collections”,“similar artist”, etc. and many other information. This is the second time it happen and it was November 2023.
Should I use music agent Personal Media Artists/Albums intend of Plex Music
Please fix this, to many hours wasted.
It has pass more than 1 hour and PMS is still adding songs that they were added more than 2 years ago.
Did you leave “Empty trash automatically after every scan” off? Never re-enable it.
Also to keep in mind: once Plex has determined that some files are missing, you’ll need to perform a library scan, so it can “find” those files again before emptying the trash manually.
Otherwise you will end up in the same situation as before, were temporarily missing files are removed from the library.
If the media file storage can become unavailable at times (pretty much everything that is outside the plex server machine), I’d avise you to neither let Plex scan the libraries automatically, nor periodically. Do also disable library updates during the server maintenance.
That way you have full control over when library scans are going to happen – where you can verify that the media storage is indeed ready and reachable.
Thanks OttoKerner for the reply and help, I did disabled “empty trash automatically after every scan” when it happen the first time last year as suggested. But I am 99.5% sure that I didn’t enable “empty trash automatically after every scan”, I think when I updated to PMS 1.40.0.7996 it enable the setting to “empty trash automatically after every scan”.
