Server Version: 1.42.2.10156 (Home Assistant Add-on 4.0.0)
Devices: Amazon Echo (4th gen), Amazon Echo Pop
Platform: Home Assistant OS 17.1, HP t620, amd64
The Plex Alexa Skill stops playback after a few seconds on all Echo devices. This happens consistently on both an Echo 4th gen and an Echo Pop. Playing via the Plex app in a browser or via the FireTV works perfectly — so the server and library are fine.
What I have tried:
- Disabled and re-enabled the Plex skill in the Alexa app
- Re-linked the Plex account after enabling 2FA
- Renewed the server token (logged out and back in via Plex Web)
- Cleared the token cache inside the Plex container
- Verified remote access is working (port 32400 forwarded, green status in Plex)
What the server logs show:
- Plex is streaming correctly — timeline updates are coming in from Alexa every ~10 seconds
- The stream is terminated on the Alexa side, not by Plex
- Repeated entries: “Unable to find client profile for device; platform=Alexa, platformVersion=, device=Alexa, model=”
- ViewStateSync logs show “No user tokens found; stopping” periodically
Based on previous threads (April and June 2025), this appears to be a recurring issue on the Plex backend side that requires a server-side restart of the Alexa infrastructure. The problem affects multiple users and multiple Echo device generations.
Could the backend systems that handle Alexa be restarted again? Many thanks — @BigWheel
