Alexa is today telling me “sorry, I’m having trouble accessing your plex skill right now”

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227
Player Version#: 4.128.1

I don’t know why, but over the course of this morning Alexa and Plex suddenly stopped playing. I have since upgraded Plex to the newer version on my Synology NAS, but still no luck.

I have restarted my Alexa device since the upgrade, and also disabled and re-enabled the skill

Is there any way to get more useful debug logs on this to understand where it is failing?

Yep, have the same issue here on multiple alexa devices.

Did the standard procedure of rebooting all alexa, rebooting plex but not luck.

Can stream media from the Plex app (ios) but alexa gives me the same error as you have.

Same thing for me. Was working fine yesterday and today getting the same error you are describing. I am presuming this is a back-end issue, either on the Alexa side or the Plex side (???).

Hi, I have the same issue. After some retry and reconnecting the skill and so on, Alexa told me she has contacted the Plex Team.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Same issue here, can one of Plex employees please comment?
Rebooting, reinstalling and disabling/enabling remote access didn’t help.

Thanks

I can’t access my Plex via Alexa today either, except for me it’s saying “uh oh, something went wrong. I’ve alerted the Plex team”.

Plex employees: this happens periodically and it’s very frustrating. This is the #1 reason I bought a plex pass in the first place and it’s basically the only way I listen to music. I understand that bugs happen but can you at least treat this as something you add to your status page? If I know that a bug is preventing the Alexa skill from. working because it’s on the status page then it’s of course disappointing, but I at least know it has nothing to do with me. And most importantly then I don’t spend an hour trying to fix it. It’s really important if we know that it’s an issue on your end rather than ours.

You’ve already got the infrastructure for reporting status. Can you please just add this to it?

I have this issue as well. Alexa was unable to access Plex skill since yesterday 5:00PM (GMT+7).

Hope this gonna get fixed soon!

I can confirm this issue since at least around April 9th, 6 pm CEST. And I would second what @mrjake2 wrote about a status page for the Alexa skill. That would be really awesome!

Same here. Tried disabling/enabling skill but it does not fix the issue.

Having the same issue now, I’ve rebooted the router, verified remote access is working, the android app has no issues connection, disabled and re-enabled the skill, Made sure I am on the latest update, everything. Plex skill either just gives the above error, or just spins and then goes dark with acknowledgement or error Version 1.40.1.8227

Same issue here. Tried disabling, enabling, removing, re-adding, still not working. Running PMS 1.40.2.8312 on Win10Pro.

cross linking dupe reports to help devs: "Uh oh, I've alerted the plex team" when trying to do anything useful with Plex/Alexa

Yep same here, Plex Server (Ubuntu) is online and accessible remotely (Plex Amp etc), Alexa Skill is enabled, (de-linked-relinked). but Uh Oh Something went wrong… since Alexa global outage yesterday (9th April)…

Why are these threads needed if the Plex Alexa Skill “alerts the plex team” every time this happens?

They must have thousands of these bug reports? I wonder why they’re ignoring them…
Working busily on new ads instead?

Same issue here. First noticed it last night and still behaving the same way this morning.

I am having the same issue, which appears to have begun yesterday. Rebooting the Echo dot and re-linking the account doesnt do anything. When I issue a command, sometimes the lights flicker and nothing happens, other times I get the Uh Oh error. After a few tries, I was able to get it to switch servers but the issue remains.

came here to see if anyone else has been experiencing this for 2 days now. glad to see i’m not alone

no changes here on my end. no new updates, nothing. my plex running on macOS as usual, my Alexa devices just started giving me that “UH OH!” error

hope it’s fixed soon!

Same issue on my end. Has been working without issue every day for the past few years, and nothing has changed right before it stopped working

PMS Windows: Version 1.90.1.118-a4bc1429

Same. Works fine from Desktop (Win/Mac apps) and PlexAmp (Win/Mac).
Echo Dot doesn’t respond, or gives ‘Uh oh…’
Weirdly, when I disconnected and reconnected the Alexa Skill, It could only see servers my account had joined - not my main server running PMS.

Happened for the last few days. Nothing else on my end has changed.

EDIT: I redeployed the docker image (same current version) and it started working again.

Docker image? Can you detail your steps?
Thanks!
