So what am I missing here… The PlexAmp app doesn’t find anything when it searches on my phone for a server, so what is the app looking for, server-wise?
The main plex app works fine and sees the movie/tv show/music files fine as usual.
It’s not searching your phone for a sever. It’s looking for your Plex Media Server which you should have installed on your computer.
Yes agreed, but it is not finding my media server.
My main plex app for movies finds it fine. I wonder what AMP is looking for (on my plex server).
Do I need to modify the server in some way? Add a plug in for AMP? odd.
So you go to settings (gear icon on bottom right) it list your account and no server under it? I think the minimum server is pretty low any semi recent server version should be fine. What version is your server?
No, I have a server - like I said with movies, music and tv shows.
the PLEX app sees it fine. Is the PLEXAmp app supposed to see the same server?
If so, is it looking for something specific? It keeps coming back, no server found.
Unlike the Plex app.
— newsflash, I just tried it again 10 min ago, and I guess it now found the newly added Music Folder. FYI the music directory on the server was added 3 days ago. Possibly after I added the app to the phone.
Thanks a bunch BigWheel!
I have the self same issue; music library is up and loaded On server and the main Plex app finds and plays music fine. Plex amp on iOS returns error ‘No servers, this may be a network issue’. I have double checked and Plex app finds server and there are no known network issues. Server is on Synology NAS. Any assistance would be great fully received.
just cross-checking… which Plex Media Server version do you have installed on that Disk Station?
Version I have is 1.19.1.2701-6327e27bf.
By way of more information I’ve tried to access server through the web and it also states I don’t have access to that server. But iOS Plex app on iPhone and iPad are connecting and playing media fine
I’ll be trying the tried and trusted switch off and on on the NAS
SOLVED
a]A good old fashioned reboot of the entire NAS has resolved whatever issues were causing the problem.
Thank you for your timely reply though.
FYI, after a day of adding my MUSIC to the plex music module, PlexAMP found my music.
Not sure why it took a day for it to refresh its bearings, but maybe uninstalling AMP and reinstalling it could speed up the process…?
Thank you, I did a full reboot of my server / NAS and it resolved matters. Looks like there were a few ‘connection’ issues that I was unaware of as some other syncing services I have are now updating as well.
Can I ask a question? If we have to reinstall/change PCs or Servers, aka completely reinstall Plex Server. Does all the work we did with Matching and PlayLists go away?
Or is there a way to preserve our configuration and import that on the new server?
That is very much off-topic, but please see this link https://support.plex.tv/articles/201539237-backing-up-plex-media-server-data/
