I installed plexamp on iPad and android to try it out but, after login, I get a “no music servers found” error message. If I start the Plex app on my iPad I can connect to my pms and see my music items. What am I missing?
I get the same issue on my iPhone
I have the same issue on ipad and Android.
Looks like they don.t care.
Try closing the app completely and reopening. I had to do that on my desktop Linux version for it to “find” a server.
LOL, the app has been out for 5 minutes and your assumption is that they haven’t replied so they “don’t care”?
Do you have remote connections actually enabled for your server? Do you have a Plex Pass?
The message is shown if the selected server (Settings - Source) doesn’t have a music library.
The user account which is used to sign into the app needs to have access to a Plex server with a music library. (either own or from a shared server)
I have a music library on my server and I’m trying to use plexamp with my own account from my own network. I can see the music library when I connect using the Plex app on my iPad but not using plexamp on the same device.
I have a PlexPass and I have remote access configured (although that shouldn’t matter because I’m on my home network).
Does this mean that you are not even able to select a server or a library under Settings - Source ?
That’s right. I log in and it accepts the login then I see the “no servers” message immediately.
Are you able to access the Settings menu?
Got the same message on iOS, no settings to adjust with, no option to check log…
Edit: I got it working by going into my pi-hole configuration and untick my custom dns server which is unbound (127.0.0.1#5353). Reverted back to Google dns and managed to load.
I figured something was going on since launching Plex through plex.tv would not let me load my libraries since is was “not secure” but “allowing insecure connections” was not solving the problem either.
Hope this helps.
Edit 2: If anyone had the same problem and want plexamp working with unbound dns: i added “rebind-domain-ok=/plex.direct/” (without quotes) to a new .conf (for example 04-plex.conf) in /etc/dnsmasq.d and restarted dns.
No settings menu. It goes directly from Login to Error message.
Yes i have a Plex pass and remote connections is enabled.
I have a music library and plex is working but not plexamp.
I even cannot select a server in plexamp.
Do you have your music library hidden from your dashboard? According to other threads this prevents the app from finding your library…
Thank you!!
What’s a pi hole? Where would I make that change for server running on Windows?
Pi-hole is a raspberry pi setup to have Network-wide Ad Blocking. In essences it is a proxy which will filter out internet ads. Not sure about the Windows Server settings, but you may want to check your firewall settings.
Thanks for the clarification and explanation. I will check my firewall and network settings and update this topic with any progress.
I’m still confused about why the Plex client would work very well on my iPad bu plexamp wouldn’t. My system is pretty vanilla - it shouldn’t be so difficult to get this going (and probably won’t be as the app matures).
Interesting, so at the very least it seems like DNS can cause the issue
Happy to look at app logs too, there might be clues in there.
Just installed it, and it worked straight up. Looks very good for a first version, nicely done
