Plex Android app cannot sign in

I cannot login to my server on a Synology NAS using the Plex Android App. I can, however, login from the same Android device using a web browser and specifying the correct IP:port-number. Not only can I login using the browser, I can also play music in the browser. This demonstrates that port-forwarding is configured correctly and the server is working as it should.

Why can’t I login using the app?

Signing in does not use your personal server for authentication, you are signing into your account at plex.tv.'s authentication servers.

have you tried clicking on the eye icon in password field to make it visible to make sure there was not a typo
