Plex app cant cast to PC's chrome/edge/native plex app

Hey guys and gals,

I have a small issue where I have recently replaced my chromecasts with HTPC’s so i could calibrate the displays. Issue is it seems my plex app cant cast to any of my HTPC’s they are all running windows 10, have their firewall disabled. Are on the same vlans as my wifi and same subnet. If I swap the same cable for my chromecast/shield/fire tv it works and picks up. It drives me crazy and I just cant seem to find out what the issue is. I have checked under general/web and the devices are ticked to be available.

On a side note incase it matters these machines dont have pms installed.

Also my plex server is not inhouse.

I have tried chrome/kodi/native app/edge and non work

Any help would be wonderful!

I am a bit unclear about this. What exactly are you swapping from where to where?

That’s definitely a problem for web-based Plex apps. They require a running Plex server in their common subnet, for plexcasting.
(The content that is playing doesn’t need to be played from that server. In fact, that server doesn’t need to have any content at all on it.)

Try installing the older “Plex Media Player”.

Hey there,

Sorry replying from mobile so not sure how to quote your reply.

I meant plug out the android tv box and plig in the htpc or visa versa just ruling out a network issue.

I will download and install than thanks
