Player Version#: 8.8.0.21200

Hello
Every time I try to start my plex app on my Huawei M3 tablet (since 2-3 days) , I have the splash screen going from the X too PLEX crashing (at PLX) and the app disapears…

I tried to update and downgrade my plex server, reboot my NAS, clear cash, un install and reinstall the app, nothing works…

The same version is working on my phone (huawei mate 20 pro)???

I can’t even get to the user screen

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello again,

I just checked on my tablet and in the playstore, the last plex app updated 2 days ago… Just when it stopped working.

How could I come back to the last working version?

Thanks.

Thanks for the report, we are raising a new beta to fix this issue, it should be available in the play store shortly.

@YvonLeFou I have the same issue here. SAme timeframe, same-ish device, Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite. Exact same manifestation. App works on my Huawei BTV, and P20 Pro.

@sixones are you able to indicate whether the issue has been identified, and an eta on a fix? I have a very unhappy 7 year old in half term to contend with

Antony

I found a work around…
I deactivated the auto-update in Playstore for Plex
I uninstalled the 8.8.0
I installed the 8.7.2.20952 apk I found online (sorry don’t remember where)

@antony.gibbs You can maybe try there for the apk

@mod,

Please fix the issue, or provide links to previous version apks on the Plex site so we can install versions that work?

Running Android 7 on a Huawei tablet. Having similar issues. App no longer loads (Crashes at animated “Plex” logo). Problem only manifested itself recently. Had to downgrade to ver 8.7.x and turn off updates. Again, please help or provide a work around with a previous version or other method. Thanks!

+1, Galaxy S8 running latest version. Noticed it happening after the app auto-updated

I’m having the exact same issue as the OP.
Huawei M3 (BTV-W09) on Android 7.0
Plex app ver. 8.10.0.21911

I’ve force stopped, cleared cache and data, and finally uninstalled/reinstalled from the Play store. Problem persists.

Also have same issue as OP. Please advise if there is a fix in the pipeline or if the only resolution is to downgrade version.

Same problem with HUAWEI Media pad M5. What’s up, Anti Huawei actions from the U.S.?!

Finally 8.10.0.21911 (arm64-v8a) Android 6.0+ worked for me. EDIT: app starts, but server communication while login never ends… :frowning:

EDIT: Even 8.7.2 does not work. Time to test something else. The plex account dependency takes its revenge.

Antony, for future reference, all the previous Android versions can be found in the announcements section in the forums (Plex for Android).

Hello,

I may have found a workaround when the Plex app suddenly stop loading at the “PLX” logo.

I’m on a Huawei Mediapad M3 Lite (Model CPN-W09) tablet on Android 7.0 with Plex ver. 8.12.1.22702 installed.

If you encounter this issue, kill all background apps and go to the Settings → Apps → Plex. Force stop the app, clear the app cache and switch the Storage permission on or off (the state of the permission doesn’t matter). Try launching the app and it may crash as usual. Repeat this step 2 or 3 times and Plex should launch successfully at some point.

However, the issue will reappear quickly unfortunately. Are they any updates on this issue Plex ?
