Plex App Will not Start on Huawei Android Tablet

I’ve downloaded the proprietory Plex app from the Playstore. It installed just fine as expected. The Plex Icon appears on my home screen - again no problem. The issue is, when I tap on it, even before the PLEX logo is properly displayed - the first 2 letters of the PLEX logo render then the app quits and I’m back on my home page. To be clear, in less than 2s after I attempt to open the app, it quits. This the first app that has behaved in this way and I’m at a loss as to what is going on - there are no error messages.
Interestingly the App loads and runs perfectly on my Sam Galaxy phone which is running Android 7 and yet not on my Huawei which is also on Android 7
I’m very much looking forward to being a new plexer but without the app working on my new tablet…
Could someone please help ?

An update. After loading another app last night, when I first ran it, I thought it was going to fall over - very briefly there was a message that came up talking about Huawei aggressively denying… there wasn’t time to read the full message and the app ran normally. I’m still unable to run PLEX on my tablet.

Doing the same thing. Very frustrated, it was working fine, all software up to date

I wish I could say I eventually got to the bottom of this issue - but unfortunately I never did.

This problem is already discussed here:

Same problem here. Works fine with Honor 8 phone but not with my Huawei M3 tablet. I’m kind of frustrated. I have a bad sight and would like to use my tablet to control Plex. The app when working seems to be just what I need but…

Hi Marty,

Had a similar issue. New Mediapad T5, installed plex via play store and no issue. Started fine and default plex screen loaded. Logged in using my plex account and app crashed. Tried again and same issue. Uninstalled, cleared cache, cleared app data etc and no luck.

I unistalled app again but installed from Huawei app store and works perfectly now. Why I don’t know but works grand. Hope this solves issue for you too.

Been using the app on my Mediapad for a few months now without issue. Crash started happening today. Using the Huawei app store install worked for me. Thank you very much.

I have a Mediapad M3 8.4 (EMUI 5.0.4, Android 7.0), Plex is crashing, tried with v8.15.1, same result. Tried installing from Huawei app store, same result. I can only run v8.7 and below, but even with turning off automatic updates in Google Play, the Plex app still updates itself to the newest version and can’t be used. Please fix, or at least let us turn off automatic updates. Thank you!
