plex app for ps3 - how to install and run?

The DLNA for ps3 works fine but would like to try out app for ps3. The app was installed on my ps3 but never attempted using it due to DLNA working fine for free and plex app costing money. With the recent news of the app being free I am attempting to use it, but am having issues.

If I go to the app it asks me if I have an account, which I indicate I do and next screen provides 4 digit pin where I need to log in via the browser to http://plex.tv/link. I access this link via ps3’s chinzy browser enter username, password and pin, it appears to take the data but then freezes??

I also have attempted to download the app again from the playstation store. Once I attempt to do this it asks for my credit card?

How to I get the app on ps3 to work for free?

Important things to check first:

  1. Which server version are you running?
  2. Is your server logged in to your account?
  3. Is the server reporting as being accessible remotely?

You did all the right things when you installed it. The app is very buggy and sometimes doesn’t recognize that there is a Plex server on the same network. Just try again, or restart the server. Others have complained about this problem, no solution yet.
