Plex app on PS3 stopped working

I am having a major headache with this.

 

The app was working fine one minute and then it comes up with a message:

 

"Plex is unreachable. Check media server is connected to the internet and firewall allows access" or words to that effect.

 

I spend days messing about with it, changing this setting and that setting. Updating everything that I could. Even tried turning off the firewall on my computer, still nothing.

 

Then randomly it worked, for one 40min program, then died again.

 

I have now spent the past two hours messing with it again and I still can't get it to work. All the other apps, phone, tablet etc work fine, it is just the PS3 one, which annoyingly is the one I use the most.

 

I have found a way to get it to work.

 

If I uninstall the app, then reinstall and activate it, the app will work until I turn PS3 off. :angry:

 

Really want this to work properly again!!!

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated, but please try to make it as simple as possible. I am easily confused by computer talk. :wacko:

That's definitely strange behavior, Nick.

  • First, I encourage you to update to Plex Media Server v 0.9.11.16 (current public release) or 0.9.11.17 (current Plex Pass preview release) since it looks like you're currently on an older server release
  • This support article has troubleshooting information for apps not finding/connecting to your server

Looking at your account information, it looks like your Plex Media Server last connected "3 days ago" (March 28, 11:55am GMT), so not far off when you posted your message here. The fact that your server hasn't checked in since then means either (1) it's not running, (2) it's not signed in to your Plex account, or (3) something is blocking its communication (firewall, router, proxy, etc.).
 
In order for your PlayStation app to be able to find and connect to the server, you definitely need to ensure that you're signed in to the server (Settings > Server > General). If you sign out there, then the app won't be able to get connection information.
 
It's also possible (though probably quite unlikely) that the connection info your PlayStation app has is getting corrupted. To help protect against that, make sure when you stop using the app, you exit it gracefully (PlayStation Button > Exit app). You'll also want to ensure that the PlayStation continues to have an internet connection so that it can get fresh information about your server and connection details.

As randomly as it broke, it started working again.

Except, the app won't display my shared library.

Which is the main thing I use Plex for.

Works on everything else. Phone, tablet etc.

I'm having the exact same issue on my ps3. I run the app and get past the ''plex'' logo and then i just get a black screen. If i uninstall and re-install the app then i can access it but as soon as i close it and run the next time the issue has returned. I've tried closing the app and restarting the app numerous times and still wont get in past the plex logo which appears on the app start up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry buddy.

I wish I could help but mine just started working randomly.

It is now just the shared stuff that doesnt come up.
