So I was trying to play a show remotely and it would constantly buffer even after I waited a minute to let it load it still buffered a minute later. I saw on the web dashboard that it was streaming at 3mbps, but the file is around 2.6mbps. I then switched over to infuse player and never had an issue. On the web dashboard it showed the video playing with a 6mbps bitrate.
I thought Plex at least doubled the bitrate when playing to give itself some buffer for the spikes in the video? If it use to it looks like it does not currently, for me anyways. I have included logs if anyone can figure out what is happening. It will be in Plex Media Server.1.log at the 1:30pm mark onwards. I changed players around 1:35 or so.

Il have a similar problem to that. It takes over 20 seconds to play any of my videos with the last version, but if I use older version it’s instant. It’s also instant if I play the same content with Jellyfin or with Plezy.
Plex need to stop vibe coding to stop to create theses issues. But I’m not certain if that’s just related to the bandwidth.
Looks like this are 2 different problems?
Strange that is working ok with infuse and not with the plex app.
How high is your home upload speed?
And how high is your download remotely?
My upload is 23mbps and my download is over 90 where I’m at. The file in question only had a high bitrate for a 30 second section of 4.5mbps. So, with nothing else happening with my server the Plex app should have handled it, but it couldn’t.
I also have my server upload set to unlimited and my Plex app set to original. So, the only time it should transcode is when my bandwidth limit comes into play, which is shouldn’t have for this video and it didn’t, but it still kept buffering..
