Plex App Not Working On Xbox One X

I recently upgraded from Xbox One to Xbox One X. Upon launching the Plex app for the first time I was greeted with an entirely new UI (I guess my other box was not auto-updating?) – in any case, when the app first launched, the homepage was completely blank! Upon navigating into the various tabs at the top, I was able to get into each of those categories, however, my library was severely truncated… I went from several thousand titles, to less than 200!

Thinking this must not be right, I restarted my server and also restarted the Xbox, and then re-launched the Plex app. I got the same blank homepage, however, now none of the tabs work. I can click them multiple times and nothing happens. When I go into the settings, I can confirm that my local server is showing as connected.

Another feature that I used to use a lot was the Chromecast integration. I used to be able to cast from my Plex app in Android to my Xbox. However, now the Xbox does not show up in my cast list. I was really hoping that this would work as a temporary workaround!

Anyways, has anyone else run into these issues? Does anyone have thoughts around how to resolve this? Currently, Plex does not work at all on my Xbox One X. Is it possible to revert back to the old version of the app until the new UI has been properly tested?

Hi @JakePlusMelanie. When you say the homepage is blank do you mean it’s totally blank? There should be some text there explaining how to access your content. This is a one time process you step through, that explains how to access your content. You will not be able to click on the media type buttons until you complete the guide.

Your full library content should be available when you enter a library, are you sure you don’t have a filter applied?

Regarding your cast issue, does your local server show up as remote in the Media Server Status list (available under the user menu)? If so you may need to go into the app settings and change the Allow fallback to obscure connections app setting to Only on local networks.

Works here on Xbox one X. I remember it launched with an empty screen and I had to up arrow to select a library or source.
