and, in your opinion, are the reasons for rejection reasonable?
when will you send a third try?

Yes. Currently in review again.

I can’t say ā€˜rooting’, it means something different in Australia.

Fascinating, I just Googled it and yes, you’re right, very different

Would be good. If it is on schedule my new at4 comes tomorrow …

I know they haven’t released the universal search API yet but will Siri work with Plex?
The ā€œWhat did they say?ā€ option for example which winds back the video.

Do you plan on updating your blog with Screen Shots and more info once it is accepted?

I don’t plan on getting one until December but would love to take a look at what to look forward to

Only if he has been drinking lol… :))

It’s nothing nefarious, it’s just around certain nuances of the rules around linking to your website in certain contexts.

They haven’t mentioned ā€œIntent to purchaseā€ have they? I know that one very well.

It’s not a proper app release if you’re not getting a couple of rejections from Apple

Sounds like a third party solution, Simplex, is already out. $2.99 and I have no idea if it’s any good so I’m still holding out hope for the official Plex app! https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/187382/simplex-a-native-3rd-party-plex-client-for-the-new-apple-tv-4th-gen/p8

@petercockroach I can vouch for Simplex! it works flawlessly and uses the native Apple TV UI. I’ve been beta testing it for the past 2 weeks. I’m not sure what the official Plex app will look like so have nothing to compare it against but it’s definitely worth the $2.99!

Time for a new Forum Category?

Will you support Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) passthrough as well as AC3 passthrough?

Not at launch for eAC3. We didn’t have enough hardware to test this thoroughly.

Will the server try to feed it eAC3 if we hack around with the xml profile in the Plex Media Server.app container?

Edit: also, is the Server smart enough to transcode other surround formats (FLAC, DTS, DTS-HD, AAC, etc) into (e)AC3?

If you hack the profile, you will void the warranty, sir! Your server may catch on fire. But yes, you should be able to coax that into working.

Yes.

lol, thanks for your answers. I’ll report back tomorrow (assuming Apple hits the approve button) on how eAC3 works on my setup. I look forward to it.

Continuing that line of thought, will the Plex server ever be smart enough to transcode text-based subtitle formats to tx3g. With the release of the Apple TV, this issue has become all the more pressing. Video can convert between video formats, audio can convert between audio formats, but subtitles cannot convert between subtitle formats. The fact that srt subtitles require a full video transcode on iOS (i.e. tvOS) devices is driving me NUTS. I’d love to hear why this feature hasn’t yet been implemented. Keep up the transparency Elan!

Man, opened up the app store only to find Plex isn’t there yet. :((

There are some cool apps though so I’m excited for what’s to come. Bring on the Plex!
