They are making the app as we speak. If you have a plex server the last update notes hinted at this. I believe it said something like “codecs for a currently unreleased fruit themed tv device”. So i say give it to mid November for a plex pass release and then a full release geared for Christmas time/early December.

The Plex team have MADE the app; the third revision is under review by Apple as I type this. Mid-November?? Probably not. This week? I certainy hope so! ![]()

Maybe they were just dressed as Plex Devs for Halloween.
Now that is scary!!!

The app is already in for review with Apple. It was rejected twice waiting to hear on the third submission to see if it makes it through. So should be any day now as long as this time it passes the apple app guidelines.
@elan has said it won’t be on plexpass.
Mate, sort your signature out. I appreciate you’re trying to be helpful but it’s a ■■■■■■ to scroll through on a mobile device!
Can you give it a trim please?
I don’t even see sigs on the mobile version of the forum. Are you requesting desktop site? If that’s the issue, there’s a setting to suppress sigs in your profile under signatures.

Has anyone had any issue with the learning IR commands feature? I have a Samsung Soundbar. I use the learning feature and point the Samsung remote at the apple TV. It says it has learned the IR code. I then try to use my Apple remote to change the volume, but nothing.I have ensured that the newly learned device is the selected one for sound, but nothing. The Apple remote however seem to change my TV volume without issue over HDMI. Very weird.
I had the same problem with my Samsung sound bar - the Apple TV detects that I’m pressing the up and down volume buttons and says it’s learned the code, but then it doesn’t work. I have a second Apple TV on my other TV that has a Vizio sound bar and it works fine there. So perhaps there’s something fishy with the Samsung remotes and sound bars.
To whoever threw shade with the dislikes, I wasn’t saying I wouldn’t trim the sig… I was simply offering a suggestion to avoid the issue that’s easier than having everyone with a sig take out the clippers :).

Well, I am glad I am not the only one then.
The thing that really sucks is I have three TV’s, all with this same soundbar. ![]()
My samsung sound bar works fine, but It is wirelessly connected to my tv. Don’t know if that matters

Interesting. Mine is connected through an optical cable. So definitely two different models here.

Same here, @Dude245 do you have a samsung TV also? I’ve got an LG so the wireless wasn’t an option.
If you connect the soundbar by HDMI, the appletv will turn it on and off as well as be able to control the volume. My TV, unfortunately, doesn’t like that setup. It will power on and tune to the appletv’s input, but it won’t power off (d’oh). To make matters worse, the TV never goes into standby if it has no signal, instead sitting there at full power displaying a “no signal” message. So I’m stuck using one other remote (TV or soundbar) no matter what way I wire things up.
Perhaps it’s time for me to look into a new TV…
@tekkub
Yeah they’re both samsung, so it can use some samsung-wireless proprietary thing, but the remote is IR for the soundbar
@elan and team, will online channels (itv, iplayer etc) playback through Plex be supported in the ATV version like on the desktop and iOS versions ? Just didn’t know if that would be able to make it into this tvOS version or not (hope it does though).
Thanks for all your hard work so far, can’t wait to see it in the store !

elan Hey elan, I was at a Halloween party in Los Gatos last night and several Plex staff members were there wearing Plex hats and t-shirts, they were quite surprised that I knew all about Plex. I gave them a hard time and said “when is that damn ATV4 app coming out?”
That is awesome. I’m actually in Los Gatos for a few days of meetings, so maybe I’ll run into you too ![]()

much better, thank you. I don’t want to turn off signatures. its mentioned in some of the sub-forum rules to use the signature to list your kit as its helpful for people to help troubleshoot.
don’t worry about the dislikes. this isn’t facebook. who gives af.

i see SimpleX is number 2 in top grossing apps for AppleTV
Elan : Is the app going to be a universal iOS app, or will it be a standalone ATV version?

Well done Simplex.
Not that for one moment do I think Plex themselves aren’t working really hard on getting us an official App. It’s sometimes a long thankless task being a developer!
