Love it! Surely there’s more good stuff to come. One question though - can’t figure out how to delete media after watching. I’m one of those guys that just deletes after watch - I see the option on my Fire TV but not on the Apple TV version. What am I missing?
New app is great!
One fairly major concern - with a number of media files (haven’t found the pattern yet), using the touchpad remote to fast forward isn’t working. It just pauses, and I can’t do anything until I hit “play” again. No problem fast forwarding in Simplex. Anyone encountering the same issue?
Hmm is there no login with PIN code? Even Simplex did that. Not a huge deal since it’s only done once, but it seems like a really important feature for TV clients without keyboards, especially given Apple’s awful onscreen keyboard!
Quick Question: I haven’t really noticed before until this new app, is there a client within pled that downloads actor/director artwork? Noticed the circles at the bottom with the Initals wondered if artwork should go in it? Thanks PS great looking all, well done guys.

You have to set the automatic login in settings OFF

Same issue here, same files FF fine in Simplex. Only a few of the ones I have tried so far exhibit this
Is deleting media not supported? That is a pretty important feature.
Great app though Plex team!! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for it.
This is awesome and it is wicked fast so far.
The best interface of any Plex client so far. I love being able to easily shuffle all Seinfeld episodes, for example.
I would pay $200 for a box like this that only ran this app.

I was wondering about that too…
All in all, after a quick play though, I cannot fault it - exceptional work. Love all the discovery features, but they are tucked away enough that we shouldn’t get the endless complaining about them ![]()
Hopefully a way to incorporate fan art is found in time too.
woo hoo. fantastic. i have channels again.
I’m anxiously awaiting my delivery. I won’t get my atv until Wednesday even though I preordered. I would have been better off just going to the Apple Store.

And King of Queens
=D>
This is great news but the app doesn’t work for me. It says my server “needs update”. I have updated my server a couple of times now and I’m still getting “needs update”. Simplex however, works great.
Any thoughts?

what version have you upgraded to? 0.9.12.18 is the latest.

Note: For people with 5.1 or larger setups…go into settings in the apple tv and change audio from auto to dolby ss. If its set to auto, it will output as PCM to the receiver. You have to force it to output as DD. Also, DD is the highest it will output. No DTS-HD or TrueHD or blah blah blah.

I have DTS being sent through with no trans-coding done by the server. It hits the receiver at multi channel but I assume that its just passing through the audio. So doesn’t that mean it’s DTS?_

Is it possible for anyone to explain which audio choice is better? Auto or Dolby Surround? Auto causes my receiver to report “multi-channel in” Dolby Surround causes it to report Dolby Digital 5.1, but it forces everything in other apps to this and I think there may be some downsides. What do the Plex gods say is best to choose while using Plex?**
I would like to know at Mookee is asking as well

I’m in the same boat but a co-worker went to the Apple Store on Friday and tempted me to get one there as well. So the household is getting 2 of them, more Plex is better Plex!
Subtitles Bug?
I seem to be having issues with subtitles. The subtitles work for movies, but they don’t work for TV shows. There does not even appear to be an option to turn subtitles on when playing a TV show, but the subtitles option appears when viewing movies.
Is this right, or am I doing something wrong?

It is really going to depend on your setup.
Auto works out the best format supported between the ATV4 and your audio system, and then depending on the source is, does “something” with it.
For me (with a YSP-4300 sound bar)
When on Auto
2 channel input of any type comes out as 2 channel 48khz PCM
5.1 channel AC3 comes out as 7.1 channel 48Khz PCM
When on Dolby Surround
2 channel input comes out as AC3 5.1 channel 48khz
AC3 5.1 just gets passed straight through AC3 5.1
I just leave it on Auto.
Most of my source material is DTS or DTS-HD and I have a receiver that can support pretty much whatever. I don’t understand the audio formats enough to know which setting provides me the best audio quality though. I presume it would be setting it to Dolby instead of Auto…

Well, bit trickier.
Currently, The DTS-HD will never be used, it’ll just use DTS-core track, aka, its just seen as normal DTS. As apple hates DTS, PMS just transcodes DTS into AC3 before sending to the ATV, so it would be treated by the ATV4 as an AC3 5.1 input. This assumes your PMS is on a device which can perform the DTS transcode in the first place.
There is new an option here for the Plex guys now that the ATV4 can take an EAC3 7.1 input, of having PMS transcode the DTS-HD track into an EAC3 7.1 track and using that, but I am making an assumption here that all the downstream code they need to do that exists and that EAC3 7.1 can be input over HLS. (how the data is transmitted to it by all methods other than direct play)
If you want your 2 channel stuff to stay 2 channel = auto
If you don’t care about 2 channel stuff, and have 7 speakers = auto
if you don’t care about 2 channel stuff, and have 5 speakers = flip a coin.
If you don’t care about 2 channel stuff, and want your 5.1 channel stuff to not go through a process to create 2 additional channels = dolby surround.
All my 1080i@50 files have a black screen while audio works.
Any chance to get that fixed?
