Plex app on Samsung TV's just goes back to Movie info screen when pre-roll is enabled and played

I have had complaints from a family member and a friend i share my plex server media with, both are using Samsung Tizen TV’s when they select a movie to watch it plays the intro I have set then crashes back to the screen when the poster and synopsis if i disable the intro all playback is fine

i know this is specific to Samsung TV’s as my xbox, PS4, Apple TV and two Roku’s do not have this issue

are Plex employees aware of this and working on a fix? its been going on for months. To get around this for my father i bought him a roku to use and my friend has resorted to running an HDMI off his computer.

I posted this back in August no one really??? anyone able to assist on this?

Are you talking about the “pre-roll” function?

What server version are you on currently and which OS?

Can you please post the exact version number of the Samsung app(s)? And Samsung model and year?

I am running a windows based plex server on the most recent version ( 1.18.4.2171 I think). This has been a issue for some time on samsung tvs. cant run pre rolls because of it. When a movie is started on samsung the preroll plays then returns to the plex media page of the movie instead of starting the movie.

I can say its any Samsung Smart tv Tizen or not my step father has a 50" curved 4K model with Tizen and and buddy has an older android based one

I had him try lots while i watched logs on the Plex server and couldnt see anything related to why it just goes back to the media info screen…its litterally happening on all movies when a preroll is set up…disable the preroll and movies play

the buddy is using Plex version 4.15.2 TV is Model QN65Q6FNA purchased in 2018…

My server has consistently been on the latest plexpass beta as its released and issue never seems to resolve at the time of this writing im on Plex server using a docker image from binhex/arch-plexpass on my unRAID server version 1.18.4.2171

I posted this back in August no one really??? anyone able to assist on this?

I’m pretty sure that, due to the vast amount of issues with all sorts of Plex players, this won’t be solved in this decade.

Found the issue and put in a fix. Won’t be available next release, but the one after that.

I would like to know which and planned version number or build number so I can plan on re-enabling my pre-roll

It’s a tv app fix.
