Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973
Player Version#: Unknown, but current and up-to-date
Heya, everyone. I’m running Plex on a Windows PC and accessing it from a post-2014 Samsung smart TV, model un43nu6950. Recently, however, any time I turn off the television and resume the movie I was trying to watch, it errors out. Have to re-start from the beginning and manually fast-forward to my previous spot. The resume works fine when I access the Plex through my browser on a different device. The issue only occurs on the Samsung TV.
I’ve read through several similar posts, and most of them seem to have been resolved with the latest server-side updates, but I’ve updated and am still having the same issue.
Unless your Samsung is a 2016 model or newer, you’re not using the official Plex app but one developed by a volunteer. Unfortunately due to health reasons, that developer is no long able to maintain the app.
As time goes on and the server (PMS) continues to be updated, unmaintained apps are likely to “break” in various ways. Your best bet may be to rollback PMS to 1.18.0 or to get a stick or streaming box for the Samsung and use the official Plex app on that platform (e.g. roku, firetv, etc).
Sorry, I meant post-2016, not post-2014. My TV is a 2018 model, so it should have the proper app, I think? I’ve read about the unfortunate health issues that have resulted in the older app no longer being supported. But I don’t know how to check if I’m running the Orca version, or the official one.
Hi. I’d like to use the post to ask about the DTS enabling on plex for samsung 4.5.1 and tizen 4.0
I have a samsung 49q6fan, I do not have that option. A friend of mine has the 55q7cam and it have that option (the same plex and tizen versions). Another friend of mine has a 50 inch samsung, do not remember the model, and it have that option as well. But I don’t. Any ideas?
Ah, thank you! Alright, says that my Plex for Samsung version is 4.5.1, and my Tizen version is 4.0. I… have no idea what that means as far as my issue I’ll poke around, though.
