Plex app reading as remote when I am on the same network

Server Version#:Latest
Player Version#:Latest

I have been trying to play video from my pc to my laptop for quite some time now in my apartment and I am continuously being blocked from playing because Plex thinks I am remote. Plex works perfectly fine on my smart TV but it doesn’t want to work on my laptop. I have tried adding the ip of my laptop onto my list of IP addresses allowed without auth but it still does not work.

I also have a server on my mac that I use occasionally when I don’t have my PC.
Additionally, I am not an admin on the network so I am unable to change network settings.

Depends on your network setup. What IP address does the server have and what address does the player have?

The IPV4 addresses both match xxx.xxx.xxx, and then the server is at 66 while the player is at 90.

What URL are you using to access? app.plex.tv or http://serverip:32400/web?

I’ve used both. It doesn’t work on my laptop, or even on my PC that the server is literally located on.

What is the actual IP address?
If it’s a private network, there is no need to mask anything.

I see. The xxx.xxx.xxx is 100.100.136. In my own research it appears that it is in the CGNAT range. Maybe that is affecting it somehow?

While this is generally treated like a private IP range, it is not a true private network. Simply because you could theoretically be on the same IP range as other customers of your ISP.
For your own home network, docker NAT, etc. you should use actual private IP ranges.

These provide plenty of room – even for complex private setups.
