Please assist

Which IP address range are you using in your local network?
Are server and clients in the same local network?

Hi

PLEASE NOTE MY EMAILS ARE RETURNED IF I REPLY TO plex@discoursemail.com

Thank you for your response

IP range is 20.0.0.X with subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Have tried to add 20.0.0.0/24 and also the individual ip addresses to the List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth – Made no difference

Plex server pc can see the folders and movies perfectly

Please let me know if you need further info

Please don’t do that.

That is not a private IP range.
(It belongs to Microsoft Corporation, actually.)

Stop using it, because this way Plex server will always be treated as “remote”.

I don’t think the ip range i am using will make any difference as i am behind my router and anyway this all worked perfectly for months previously, why should it matter now?

surely plex does not have the intelligence to want to identify specific ip ranges behind a private router

my router knows that any internal traffic for the 20.0.0.x range is internal and keeps it internal
all other networking works perfectly

Yes, it does make a difference.
Now more than ever, due to Plex Media Server - #396 by StSimm1
The error message you cited in your first post stems from this.

wow this will cause a huge amount of work if i have to change it

are there any work arounds

Unfortunately not.

btw, please disable verbose logging. It will only obfuscate things and make debugging harder.

Thank you, will begin the process of changing to a 10 network tomorrow and confirm the results with you on completion

Start with your router.
Then shut down and restart your server.
then wait a few minutes and resboot every other device on your network, so everything gets assigned a fresh IP from the changed pool.

If you have devices with manually assigned IPs you should actually change those first.

I will change the ip range,
however i just set my plex server ip from dhcp on 20.0.0.x to a static in the 10.0.0.x for testing and then after 5 minutes reset to dhcp on the 20.0.0.x range again - amazingly all plex clients including the xbox that stopped working months ago can now see the server and are all working - i cant explain this
Prior to this all machines refused to recognise the plex server (Multiple reboots etc.)
