Sorry but I get so darn tired of the stream not starting 95% of the time. Version 6 of the app works like charm! Version 8 is pure junk! I don’t care of a gazillion features I want to stream without screaming of frustration. Fix it or enable a version 6 in the 8 player!
Agree. Plex app on Android (Bravia) stopped working for me in the last few weeks after updating. I tried deleting, reinstalling, and re-linking but it has the same “unexpected error” when I try to start a stream from my latest-version plexmediaserver.
I borrowed a Roku today, downloaded the Plex app, and linked — and it’s succeeding to play from my server.
Same issue last few weeks.
When playing a movie from a local server (Win10 x64) without encoding on an Android TV Philips 55PUS8503, there is a sudden pause after 2 or more minutes.
Plex worked fine for 2 years until recently.
The server on the computer is connected to the router with a Ethernet, the TV is via Wi-Fi 5GHz.
Dashboard and Taskmanager shows the stop of data transmission over the network from the server. When the cache ends, playback stops. The replay after restarting also takes several minutes.
Direct playback from the same server on the Plex for WebOS TV works perfect.
