Plex Apple TV w HomePod Audio Default - Unexpected Quits and No Autoplay/Resume

There seem to be multiple issues using Plex on Apple TV while utilizing the HomePod default audio option.

  1. While using “On Plex - Movies and Shows” or I guess you could call it the Plex on demand video library, the Apple TV app unexpectedly quits when trying to resume playback of a previously played show. It seems to happen when the advertisement tries to start while utilizing HomePod audio. App repeatedly quits and have to start from beginning to get it to play.
  2. Autoplay next episodes seems to never work, it will just show a black screen. (both on demand and from my own plex server)
  3. When opening from own plex server, episode does not start playing, usually have to pause and then start again. Weirdly this seems to be true on Plex and also Hulu/Disney but not other apps.

Again, this seems to ONLY happen if utilizing HomePod default audio for Apple TV. This happens with Plex beta app and also regular App Store releases. I have four different Apple TV boxes, all different version and happens across the board.

Hopefully there are others with this similar issue and can hopefully find resolution, it is very annoying and has been happening for a long time.

I have the same issue with Autoplay that’s annoying as hell.

I don’t have much to offer except that it seems to be introduced when Apple started offsetting audio track to fix the out of sync issue caused by Homepod latency.

I guess the Plex app isn’t handling that very well.
