Plex Arcade. A little late to the game guys

Honestly guys. I, personally, feel that this new Parsec Arcade gaming through Plex is COMPLETE CRAP. Not hating on those who enjoy retro classics and paying a little homage to our forefathers but, first of all, a slew of emulators are already widely available which you can then stream over WAN via Parsec (mouse and keyboard are a must) or Steam (much easier to navigate with their option to pinch zoom and switch control styles in-app without the need to back out of and close app) to various platforms of preference or even run natively on your phone or tablet and bypass internet streaming altogether. Don’t forget Moonlight game streaming which works great in combination with Steam so you can use your gamepad as a desktop mouse which mitigates some of the MAJOR flaws of Moonlight. If only I didn’t have to frequently quit my open Moonlight stream in order to force the graphics card to stop from doing that weird, rhythmic stutter that occurs for God knows why. Absent of the stuttering, this would be my setup of choice for its INSTANT responsiveness. I mean INSTANT and for the fact that the content uses all available real-estate on my smart phone. Parsec has black edges on the sides of my screen which is due to the fact that my laptop only has max resolution of 1920x1080 without resorting to plugging in a TV as an external monitor, thus losing the ability to game at 144hz, which is why I avoid it. My phone is capable of 120hz. Otherwise I would just plug in the TV as main monitor so that Parsec could then utilize resolutions beyond 1080 to something closely similar to my phones resolution. I wish I knew of another way to set resolution on my pc to match my phone and keep the 144hz refresh rate or, at least a screen stretching option similar to Moonlights stretching option which is now null with the recent update allowing for native resolution option in the app.
Anyway, I steered away from the main point of my topic and that point is that even though you guys (Plex) are offering something that looks well-packaged and follows suit with the beautiful library organization of all things media, I feel it is not relevant and it is a “cute” little tip of the hat to the shoulders of the giants upon which we stand. It is not cutting edge. It is not for the modern gamer. It is not, however, production ready and worthy of our limited and hard-earned money, especially with the already available options out there. I’d say it would have been ACTUALLY exciting if you guys offered this as a fully free “BETA” testing platform with the hope or plan of offering a true gaming experience with the data gleaned from the BETA and to have that then be a paid service. Furthermore, it should offer at least 120hz refresh rate WAN streaming and if it were to be on par with how exciting and revolutionary PLEX has been thus far, you would push the boundaries and rival the competition with 144hz (or more) refresh rates, cloud VR capabilities with no discernable latency and address ALL the combined shortcomings of all the other viable game streaming platforms so that you may stand atop a mountain made up of the ones before you who pioneered the gaming wilderness, waving your big black and orange flag of victory that declares, “PLEX”.
I know you guys aren’t small thinkers. You changed the game. We’re ready for you to change the gaming game. This retro arcade is not it. Respectfully, please WOW us once again. It’s the struggling rock star making his first album that shines through the cookie cutter has-beens that are cutting their 8th album. Put yourselves back into that mindset.

thanks for the feedback!

Frankly, you are wrong. This is not crap, it’s a great addition to Plex.

I’ve been a retro emulover for some time, and having it in Plex is an excellent evolutionary step for Plex. Being able to stream it to all Plex devices (eventually), on-net or internet, and have the games in the same media management system is a good step. This may not be for you, but it certainly is for me.

Improvements? Yes, please! Need RetroArch config settings… need support for lots of things, but, having been a long timer on Plex (and forum lurker!), I had to post a response here.

Elan, keep up the excellent work. Progress of Plex since the beginning has been outstanding.

Gripe: I don’t want to pay the monthly fee as a lifetime Plex Pass holder, but I assume you are paying Parsec on the backend, so I get it.
