Plex Arcade running from a VM?

My plex server lives on a VM running on a Mac mini. I see that arcade won’t work on a headless machine, but what about with the virtual display of VMware fusion?

I JUST set arcade up this morning, before coffee, and it’s not working. I can get no games to play even though most will attempt to launch. I just get a blank screen.

Thoughts?

You may have to pass through a graphics card.

Thanks for the reply. Looking at vmware fusion I see where I can enable 3d graphics on the VM, but nothing that explicitly states gpu pass through.

Are you familiar with configuring vmware fusion in this way?

Sorry I am not, I only have setup a VM on unraid. I am sure you probably can find youtube videos on how to do it. You will need a separate graphics card for the VM. For example you can use the built in graphics for your main system and a pci graphics card for the VM.

As this is headless, and the onboard gpu isn’t used to drive a display, would a separate video card still be necessary?

If your not using the onboard you should be able to use it.

Thanks.

Now the Plex game transcoder is crashing 100% of the time I launch a game.

What OS is the VM? I read somewhere that this only works on Plex for windows currently but not sure.

Mac OS, but I believe both windows and Mac are supported at the moment.
