PLEX as DLNA Control Point

+1 would make it possible to use probably every Smart TV no matter how old with PLEX. (also might be a start to add multiroom audio possibilities since most later AVRs also support DLNA)

Big FAT +10000000 from me!

+1 For sure

There are other Media Server they already support this feature. I think it is a must have feature.
Only this way you get a simple and modern usability experience. Without this feature no PLEX server will run in my house.

Let’s bump this thread up and see if we can get some more support )

Yes! We need this for networked receivers!

PLEASE Elan, make it happen!

I agree and upvoted the OP. My Panasonic Viera apparently doesn’t have a PLEX app, but it’ll accept DLNA just fine. A way to play from PLEX to a DLNA device on my own network - initiated by my PLEX client on my phone, tablet or computer is highly desired.

+1 For sure

I couldn’t believe this feature does not exist in Plex. Now I need to use BubbleUPNP to stream the music from Plex to my Naim Unitilite. Of course I can’t rate any songs while listening when I don’t use Plex app…
+1 for this must have feature!

+1 - I can’t believe it’s missing…

For me 2

+100000000

+1

Will be looking to cancel my plex pass as a result of this feature not being present.

+1 Need possibility to push stream to DLNA renderer

+1. Want to replace bubbleupnp App DLNA control point functionality on my Android Phone and tablet with the plex App.

+1. It’s time to uninstall bubbleupnp…

+1 The lack of this removes so much of plex’s potential.

I’m afraid this is another case where something is not made to make people buy new stuff instead.

@kizmanj @all_others checkout https://emby.media
It’s another, but open-source media-server software and the developers are more likely to add stuff the community want…
I think we can wait until everyone win the lottery that this feature will be integrated…

Want to replace Emby Server, but DLNA is missing in Plex :’(

Haven’t heard of Emby yet, but based on their website they seem like a serious competitor.

I’m building my smart home, but don’t wanna spend money to buy devices to be ā€œPlex Companion compatibleā€ if i have DLNA renderers all over the house already.
