+1 Is this already in development?
Folks, rather than posting +1ās can you upvote the original post.
From my perspective it is a no-brainer that this is a must have feature.
I do also recall seeing a convoluted rebuttal saying why it goes against the principles of Plex to be a control point for DLNA. That was done time ago but I cant seem to find it now.
Upvoting is done by liking the original post I suppose?
Yes, apologies, should have mentioned. The voting method is by liking the original post.
Done! Now let us hopeā¦
Voted! Love Navigation of Plex, streaming to chromecast, listening via Bluetooth is Ok, but having the dlna control dein the Plex ui would be perfect!
Why do people still use DLNA anyway? Isnāt it nicer to use a polished UI like Plex instead?
Well that would be the whole point here, to use the polished UI of Plex but send the stream to a dedicated player using DLNA.
The advantage of a dlna renderer would be sound quality in my case. Using foobar 200 with asio support, upsampling etc. Really improvement compared to the Plex sw on the same pc. Missing all the tweaking and audiophile option roon hasā¦
But the ui of plex is ++++
Vote for Plex as controlpoint for DLNA-renderer
I canāt believe this is still not implemented! Emby has itā¦
+1 my vote for Plex as controlpoint for DLNA renderer. I dream about it.
Added my vote for this. I tried using Emby as they have this functionality, but I am just not a fan of their app and music controls.
Vote for this! Would like to push content from Plex to my Oppo 203 Player
+1 here, mostly for music.
I am using a Synology DS416Play and AudioStation can discover and use my Marantz 1508 as DLNA client for the music in the NAS. So i can browse my music using the iPad Audio Station app and use the Marantz amp as a player WITHOUT having to trabsit the stream through the ipad itself.
Now plex has a much better interface and management tools, BUT i cannot use the mobile or web app to control the DLNA playback.
For what I Need Tidal when I can listen the Music only on my Smartphone!
For what I need an Android App how show me not all Features like the Website!
He Guys! Hear is something very wrong! This Feature Wish is now 7 Years old. Nothing change.
You make new Feature like Plex Cloud and now you discount this again. A lot of hard work for nothing. Many Years I ask for repair DSF tagging. After send, some examples nothing change. Many Years from Music tagging by the Year is sometime not working! Parallel I use Minim Server. This small Music Server has most feature I like it. If the last feature come, I leaf plex with my Life Time Subscription.
Hey Plex, we need this feature!
Testing if Plex Media Server on a CentOS 7 install can replace my old Twonky.
Either the ability to use Plex App on Android as a DLNA control point and one of many DLNA sinks (that I currently control with BubbleUPnP) or the PMS supporting the UPnP Search feature would be greatly appreciated.
When I work, I tend to shuffle by album through my music library.
The DLNA controller functionality is needed in a high-end Home Theater setup. Just imagine this:
On the iPad app in settings I would select to act as a DLNA Controller.
Then I could browse my PMSās content on my iPad and when I hit PLAY the DLNA server within the Plex Server could send an HD or UHD Blu-Ray Remux directly to an external DLNA compatible player.
The DLNA player could be a Oppo UDP-203 connected to a high-end receiver and projector.
You would enjoy the best possible Audio and Video, just like the original disc.
Even the remote from the Oppo should suffice to control play back.
This would be a dream setup! This is a must-have feature.
It would be just work in the background if you choose to set it up. No need to disrupt anything for the average Plex user. Most users wonāt need it, I get that.
PLEX, PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR LOYAL AND PAYING HIGH-END USERS TOOā¦
WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR MUCH!
PLEX as DLNA Controller is definitely a must and has been requested on this forum since at least 2012 ⦠would be good to have a clear and transparent answer from PLEX so users can make decisions.
