With DLNA Push, Plex could deal with Roon …
Okay so I just voted for this one. I’m not sure it will make a difference. Looks like this has been on the table for eight years, but not implemented. But it sure would be awesome and seems like low hanging fruit. Heck, it could be another way to monetize Plex right?
This would be a very very simple thing to add PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do this, i know there is a whole audience out there who are currently looking for such a great piece of music (and film) streaming software…
With the current superb PLEX interface /GUI it would pull nearly all roon’s current client base over. Roons interface and feature-set cannot compete with the coolness of PLEX IMHO
Just look at mConnect its only a $6 app and this offers it albeit in a clunky GUI - surely adding this would be a very simple code alteration?? and would bring a whole new user group forward!!
@Plex Can you please advise if this feature will be added or is being considered?
I’d like to know if PLEX will become a serious contender for the over priced (IMHO) roon platform and I’ll spread the word to other audiophiles… on the forums. !?
Go Go Plex Team. Add DLNA “play on” to the APP.
Pleeeease
Please vote at the top. So far only 21 votes.
GOGO all together.
This is a must have feature and the missing link to remove Roon, MConnect, Audirvana from my head.
All media in Plex:
Click on the cast button > select Chromecast for TV (DONE).
Click on the cast button > select UPNP Compatible Audio device (badly missing feature
)
I would also consider this feature in PlexAmp
+1 for Plex
And
+1 for Plexamp

Although, it will fall on deaf ears. What’s funny is this works wonderfully in Emby.
Yeah, because of this missing feature and because I need plex.tv to be reachable to access my own music I gave up on Plex a long time ago and now use Jellyfin.
Now to find a button to unsubscribe this topic since plex.tv has been ignoring the RFE since 2012…
I have a multi-purpose radio player speaker in my kitchen (FM/DAB radio, Web Radio, DLNA player…). I would like to use it to play my Plex music playlists. I can use the DLNA server of plex, but browsing from my speaker small screen is not very friendly and you cannot see plex playlists.
So I would like to use plexamp on my mobile to send to my music to my DLNA renderer and when compatible, in directplay (lossless files). I know this is technically possible : it is the “Play To” feature of the DLNA standard. Windows already can do it, and LMS (logitech media server) can do it also with DLNA plug-ins.
same as @o_spring , the only thing that prevent LMS, Volumio users to move to plex /plexamp isthis ability to stream hi-res using dlnato streamers
i use plexampdaily on my iphone and my ibasso dc03 dac … would like so much to use the plexamp radios and other cool stuff at home with my hi res files
The internal Plex player has frame rate issues with my Sony projector. The Oppo-203 plays every file perfectly. So I want to browse my Plex library, and send the media to an external player.
+1
I’m a roon user and would love to give that up and make plex my primary media suite.
The interface is as good or better than Roon.
Please PLEX team!
+1. This is one of the features that keeps Plex from becoming go to player for all media types…
+1 plex app on my Pixel 3 as a control point to play my music library + Tidal in one beautiful interface to send to my Denon avr-x3100 or Moode/rpi player would be excellent! It would allow me to replace my functional but limited bubbleupnp app for controlling my home music listening.
+1 nothing to say more than it’s cannot be understood that plex does not support DNLA as many other software do.
+1 Many new and old speakers do not have Chromecast support. We need something like Spotify Connect - Plex Connect.
I am willing to donate for this feature development.
