I have an amazon fire that ask for a pin and when I put it in it connect fine. Everything is great.
I have an android based beelink and afaik its the same thing really. When in install plex it asks for a user sign. No link like the other it wants me to sign in. Then it spams me about getting a pass or activating? I just want to conect to my own server locally and stream? What did I miss.
I do see the device in the list on my server.
All the “mobile” Plex apps (Android, iOS, Windows UWP) are not free.
They cost either a one-off fee
or they are included with a Plex Pass subscription.
Without either of the above, the mobile Plex apps will only run in “tryout” mode. Playback is restricted to 1 minute. But you can still use them as a ‘remote control’.

Scroll down on this screen. There is an option to stay in trial mode.
So this is only for mobile? Why does the amazon fire work, does it not report as mobile?
This is exactly how it worked
after the sign in the code appears and I put it in, then I’m streaming. If I do that on my android box ( really the same think as the fire) it wants trial mode.
Aside from the amazon sorcery. it looks like I can make a one time payment? Is that all there is to it, is that locked to the google account that I bought it with? I don’t use the same sign-in to all my apps. Though I only really need one copy for my amazon TV system, so I guess its no big deal.
On set-top boxes (i.e. Fire TV’s) and Android TV, the app is free. For mobile, it needs to be activated by either signing into the app with a Plex Pass account or paying a one-time activation fee. The one-time fee is connected to the app store account and only valid on that account. The activation cannot be transferred to another account or to another app store (even another Android store). Note that the activation only removed the playback limitations. It does not activate the Plex Pass features.
Edit - For the activation, you can use the same appstore account to install the app on other devices. Once installed, you can use it with any Plex account.
Ok then back to my point.

Why am I paying? The beelink is an android tv?
I’m not sure what a Beelink is. The Plex for Android App will only be free if it detects that the device is running the Android TV version of the Android OS. A device meant for TV’s running Android is not the same as a device running Android TV. If it is truly Android TV, it should be free and look like this.
"I’m not sure what a Beelink is. " --Thats a silly thing to say ? We are in the age of google.
Is there a way to add these devices to this list?
I may have misread that post, sorry don;t see an edit features here. Maybe that device is using a model build of android?

True, but since I am not familiar with the device itself, I can’t say what it is actually running so I can’t give you a definitive answer.

There is no list. Note that Android can be run in 3 modes, depending on how the device manufacturer has compiled the OS. There is regular (phones and tablets), TV (many Android boxes are set this way), and Android TV. Devices need to get certified by Google to be able to use Android TV. The Plex App will detect how the device is running and provide the appropriate interface. Reviewing that link you provided, I don’t see anything that says it is running Android TV. If you are getting the sign in, then the device is not running in TV mode either. So it is basically running as a big phone/tablet. You can try to force the app to run in TV mode. Goto Settings / General / Application Layout and set that to TV.
