Guys I have a pretty vexing problem. My only option all of a sudden is “Basic” for device type. It will not allow me to choose anything there, also stereo only option, and as you can see my device is “Disconnected device wasapi” etc. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I can get HDMI audio to my device (a nakamichi soundbar) and it is working correctly in all apps except PMP, including bitstreaming. So gosh. Idk.
I should also add I have HDMI out from a 1080Ti.
And what happens if you select the ‘Device’ (not ‘Device Type’) entry and press Enter/OK?
Hi Otto. If I select ‘Device’ it’s the only option (upon which I press enter/OK and nothing happens)… just a whole bunch of weird alphanumeric characters. I’m on a really high end PC not in an HTPC environ. Way back when when fooling around with PMP in Windows on this PC the “TV mode,” I had the HDMI option and all the attendant Dolby, DTS, etc. tick mark boxes for audio. Recently I got an LG OLED and TrueHD soundbar and just for kicks have it hooked up to the PC. Can’t get any sound to the the setup, only analog audio from speakers attached to the PC, because of this goofy ‘Device’ option I showed in my screenshot. I know in these situations it could be something simple all the way up to full Windows reinstall! I won’t go that far. I was hoping for a quick, no-brainer fixit. If I don’t get that I’m fine. Plex is awesome. My Shield is doing great on the LG-OLED/soundbar setup. That’s what I will wind up using. The PC is an experiment for now, but would like to know the error of my ways for the future.
Maybe the HDMI device only shows up if the tv is running when rebooting the PC?
I’d also try to re-install the device drivers of the graphics adapter.
