No sound with Plex Media Player

Hi there,

so I have some ONKYO Audio Receiver connected to my PC. For the first time I installed Plex Media Player (newest version for Plex Pass members) and I don’t get any sound. The Audio Receiver is connected via HDMI to my PC and it still works fine with the old Plex Home Media Player (with DTS, True HD etc. ). Also I get audio from Media Player Classic or VLC or when I use the Web Access to my media.

So it looks there is some problem with Plex Media Player.

I checked all the settings I could check. No sound.

So what can I do to get it working?

  1. switch PMP to fullscreen (tv) mode if it not already is

  2. up-right, behind your user name, there is Settings
    select it, go to the ‘Audio’ section
    switch device type to HDMI
    pick your ‘channels’ configuration
    experiment with the ‘Device’ entry, if there are several choices
    tick the checkboxes which your AVR can decode

I got it working.

Solution: in the audio settings where you can select your device, there are two options:

  1. Auto

  2. My Onkyo Receiver

Somehow I overlooked this. Just activating TV Full Screen didn’t solve the problem but thanks anyway. I haven’t recognised this button before.

So it’s a bit weird. There is just one device to select and the option “Auto” and I still have to select my Onkyo Receiver to get audio.
