Plex Auto Launch Issues on Startup/Restart

Hi,

I’ve been using PLEX for a good while now, but the long and short of it is that I believe I’m trying to perform a pretty simple task with plex but struggling quite a bit so wondered if anyone could help me.

Basically I have a mini pc that I use headlessly without a monitor and remote into it from my Mac from time to time. The other week I set a task in task scheduler to reboot my PC every week to make sure the device is running well and has a break after encoding and dealing with the server and videos. I have set this task to run late at night when it most likely isn’t being used, and from what I can tell it seems to be rebooting and working fine, however the issue I am coming across is after the reboot, PLEX doesn’t open automatically upon reboot even though in the taskbar I have it ticked for PLEX to launch on login or whatever it is, and it’s enabled as a login item in task manager, so not sure really whats happening and why. I’d appreciarte any help, and do I maybe need to adjust or create a new task in task scheduler if so I’d appreciate help with that as I’m also not that great with Task Scheduler as its something I’ve never used much before.

My system is a Mini PC Running Windows 10, with a USB HDD for Server/Media storage.

For headless you should be using this: PMS as a service

I’m not quite sure what you mean as a service. I have PMS on my pc it just won’t open on login after restart but does from manual boot, it’s just when it auto restarts it won’t open in the system tray

A Windows service is an app that is started as soon as the computer is switched on, not just after a user has logged on.
It is the ideal way to run plex in a headless scenario, particularly if you are only logging on occasionally per Remote Desktop to perform maintenance etc.
You can log off and on as you please and doing so won’t affect Plex server.
