Plex doesn't start on reboot

Server Version#: 1.29.1.6316
Player Version#: 4.93.2
I have recently put my server to reboot every night. Since then I have to log into the server and then bring plex up in a web client BEFORE plex web can access from another computer.
I thought that Plex was running as a service and that at a reboot would, Plex would automatically start.
Am I doing something wrong or missing a setting?
tia

EDIT: just noticed that leftclick Plex icon on taskbar list shows ‘Start Plex at login’ checked. I want it to start at boot.

Note: I have checked Startup tab in taskmgr and Plex is listed there

I found this thread … Start plex media server at login not working - #3 by shukim but it does not answer the question.

Then you need to run it as a service, which Plex doesn’t support, but there’s 3rd. party tools that can assist with this

See: PMS as a service

Thanks for the reply … sad that it isn’t part of plex. nothing worse then having to log into a machine and leave it running when not using … bad practice.
I’ll look at the article … thanks again

Windows doesn’t allow system services access to the video hardware decoders.
You can run Plex as a service, but you’ll have to relinquish hardware accelerated video decoding.

Does running under a specific user account created for running plex overcome this?
Yes running as System I can understand, but does running plex as computername/user1 not mean it is running under a username context having it’s own user profile and overcomes some of the limitations of running the service under Local System or Network Service?

No. Any service is affected, no matter the user account it is running under.
If it were that simple, we would’ve went full service already along time ago.
