Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
Player Version#:
I’m having a strange issue with Plex. It seems to work totally fine, but if I start playing media, after 5 to 15 minutes, the server becomes extremely slow. The media will continue to play (usually), but it will buffer constantly. Moreover, the entire sever also becomes very slow. Trying to browse through content times out, and sometimes even the main page doesn’t even load properly.
Some more information that might be useful
- This started happening when I moved Plex to a new machine (just by copying the Application Support Directory to the new machine). This never once happened on the old machine.
- Restarting Plex usually fixes the issue, although it will start again in about 15 minutes.
- This happens when playing using both the web player, and on Chromecast. Possibly other devices too, but I haven’t tested those.
- It seems like it might only be for specific content? There’s at least one show which never has this issue.
- I don’t see anything obvious in the logs except that when it does happen there are some messages about going slowly (e.g., “entering sloth mode”) in the debug logs.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going on here? It’s making Plex essentially unusable since I can’t watch more than a few minutes of content before having to restart the server.
