I have a Synology DS416play NAS DiskStation. It has ALWAYS held my Plex media while I used an nVidia Shield Pro as my server.
My nVidia Shield Pro died, so I installed the Plex Server on the DS416play. I added the correct folders for “Movies” and “TV Shows” and enabled read/write access to both the Admin and Plex user accounts.
I’ve scanned and rescanned many times but none of my media is showing up on the dashboard.
All was fine when the nVidia Shield Pro was the server and Diskstation hosted the files (again, nothing has changed regarding media hosting – just the server.)
Mike,
Thanks for the logs. I’m seeing authorization / authentication errors (HTTP 401) errors in the scanner logs.
A couple possibilities exist. I’d like to simply run the list to make certain everything is clear.
The 401 implies the server isn’t logged into the same account (or at least it thinks it isn’t) as your browser. Can you sign it out and back in? ** Settings - Server - General**
Since nothing happened because of the above, I’d like to do this in preparation:
Open your media share(s), Select all the top-level folders in each of the 3 shares, right-click → Properties, Permissions, verify your username and plex have access at that level, Then, check the box “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” and let it do its thing. This will make certain there are no wild permissions in there. While i don’t expect any, this is the preventative step only.
Now rescan the movies and TV library sections… See if we’ve resolved it the the “Hammer” method
Since nothing is scanning, I would lastly like you to create a new “Test” share of type Movies, and add your movies share to it. Use all the default settings as you create it. Let’s see what happens.
