Plex can't access synology media

NAS Model#:DS918+
Player Version#:1.31.1.6716-6000
DSM Version: 6.2.4
Windows 10 Pro
Plex Media installed on Synology NAS. Use Windows to update NAS and Plex. System typically works great! 2 weeks ago Plex wouldn’t connect with NAS; I updated to the latest version and then worked fine. New Windows update last night and Plex won’t connect to NAS. Updated to 1.31.1 which didn’t help. Quick connect not working. Tried a recommendation to change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 which didn’t help. I can access the server, I can access Plex but they won’t interface. I’m not tech savvy, but i did attach a log. Not sure if it helps.

The DS918+ cannot communicate with hosts at plex.tv.

Please try the following:

  1. You have two connections to the same IP subnet. This can cause problems with Plex Media Server. Disconnect one of the Ethernet ports from your network.

  1. It appears something is misconfigured in the DS918+ network settings. Notice the primary interface was detected as 10.8.2.2, but the physical Ethernet interfaces are on 10.0.1.x. The primary interface should match the IP address of the physical Ethernet interface.

Verify the network settings on the DS918+ are correct
  • IP address and subnet mask
  • Default gateway (usually points to your Internet router)
  • DNS Server (you’ve already done this, leave at 8.8.8.8)

  1. Verify the DS918+ can sync with a NTP server. This will make sure a) time is set correctly, and b) check Internet connectivity

    Login to the NAS.
  • Control Panel → Regional Options → Time
  • For Time Settings, select Synchronize with NTP server
  • Choose an available server and click Update Now.
  • You should see a "Successfully synchronized with selected_server message.

  1. Restart the DS918+

Thank you for the very quick reply. Your comments triggered a thought. I have Nord VPN on the NAS and that was generating the 10.8.2.2. I disabled the VPN and that immediately fixed the quick connect. Followed your other instructions and it is working fine now. I’ll figure out the VPN configuration later. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
