Server Version#:1.41.5.9626-72009626
Player Version#:
Running Plex Media Server on a Synology NAS DS1019+. Unable to connect to the Plex media server through the NAS application. Here is the error message I received (I substituted * for part of the username).
“Hmmm… can’t reach this page
It looks like the webpage at http://192-168-1-213.l**********5.direct.quickconnect.to:32400/web might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED”
I can connect to the Plex media server through the Plex Roku app and the Plex web app.
I tried updating Plex app and uninstalling but neither worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds very much like Synology QuickConnect is having issues.
If you’re not able to connect to PMS,
Plex.tv confirms
- The server was seen 14 minutes ago from this post
- It is published (accessible) at port 32400 on a 104.x.x.x IPv4 address.
Be careful not to use the plex.direct URL anywhere as it changes every time your certificate updates
Thanks for the response! When you use the term plex.direct URL are you referring to the 104.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x address or something else? Can anyone look up the active servers on plex.tv and see the IP address? Finally, should I take this up with Synology?
Thanks
Just checked Synology website and they appear to be having sporadic problems with quickconnect.to…
Nobody can lookup arbitrary active servers or their info.
Only those of us working for Plex have that privilege granted on an as-needed basis.
As for QuickConnect having issues, I would take that up with them.
If you are local to the NAS (in the same house) then you should NOT be using QuickConnect to open Plex/Web with, instead, simply use:
http://NAS-IP-ADDRESS:32400.
To open DSM use:
http://NAS-IP-ADDRESS:5000.
QuickConnect is intended for remote use (when you are away from home) and for that it can be quite useful, but it is unnecessary when you are local to the NAS.
Thanks for the answer! It is spot on and solved the problem! Safe to say I had no clue about the QuickConnect vs local network. I think I may need to update a security certificate because I now get a “Your connection to this site is not secure” error but I can just click thru it! Thanks again!
You get that message because your browser notices that you are using http (insecure) instead of https (secure) and it complains about it, even though it is not really necessary.
Using http within your LAN is perfectly safe, but when connecting to a WAN address you always want to use https.
Both Plex and your NAS do that for you automatically, so any connections made to WAN addresses use https by default and http is only used for local connections within your LAN.
As you have already discovered, you can simply ignore the warning in this case.
