Plex Cert Expired - Plex Clients (Shield, Sony Android TV App, etc) Cannot Connect

Please wait at least 10 minutes, then stop and restart your Plex server.

I have the same issue, Can someone please check on my cert.

Your server instance is brand new. The issue in this forum thread can only affect servers which are at least 3 months old.

Trying to fix the issue, I reinstalled the current plex version and removed and then reclaimed my server, but that did not solve the issue. So that’s why I asked to check the cert. I’ve had this same server for many years. Can you still check? Thanks.

I did. Otherwise I wouldn’t have noticed the age of your server instance.

Okay. Thank you.
only a problem with app.plex.tv on my windows machine.

local is fine

I get this message.:
app.plex.tv is unable to connect to ā€œmyservernameā€ securely
It started about a week ago and i noticed when i looked this morning I saw a plex cert that expired on 12/3/25…but I don’t remember how I got to that.

I am able to see everything locally (http://myserver:32400/web)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You now have a brand new certificate, since your server is also brand new.
Let it sit running for a few hours.

In the meantime, see Important note about Chrome and Firefox Local Network Access
as well as https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/

In case it helps someone else, here’s what solved my issue.

For clarification, I’m using Edge browser on a win 11 pro desktop machine.

Any time I went to app.plex.tv/desktop and clicked on my server name, I got this message:
Unable to connect to ā€œmyservernameā€ securely

The fix:
While on the app.plex.tv webpage,

  1. Click on the tiny ā€œlockā€ icon directly in front of the url (https://plex.tv)

Under local network access, change the drop-down button to ā€œallowā€.

Hello support,

I’m also having this issue, can you please reset my certificate?

Thanks

Hello, my certificates expired too, could you please reset my certificate?

Thanks

Could you please check my certificate? It was working fine last time I watched something, but I am currently unable to connect.

Thank you kindly.

Edit: Seem to have fixed it by enabling remote access (which was never enabled before and I wouldn’t have thought would matter seeing as I was accessing it locally…)

Hi. Also have an expired certificate. Can you please reset it?

Plase wait at least 10 minutes, then stop and restart your Plex server.

I’m having the same issue. Tried rebooting and all kinds of things, but won’t seem get a new cert.

Seems it expired in late Nov.

Thanks!

Your certificate is reset.

Stop PMS.
Wait 10 minutes.
Start PMS.
It will download a new certificate

I am also seeing issues with certs in my logs and having issues connecting. Can you please review mine.

Hello, my certificates expired too, could you please reset my certificate?

Thanks

@macbezz your cert isn’t expired. Looks like you may have removed your server from your account so you might have to re-claim it.

@nwollenb your cert looks fine from what i can see. Have you rebooted everything like server, router and such?

Figured out I didn’t have port forwarding setup correctly on my new router. Got that straightened out and not seeing the error anymore. It also resolved the intermittent remote access issue I was having.
