Plex, Chromecast: "no players found"

Hi Guys
I am also having this problem. For a few months now Plex has not shown any of my players and despite multiple searches I still havent solved the problem. I click on the cast? box and it just says no players found. There doesnt seem to be any way to get plex to check or rescan.
In my authourised devices page - there are hundred of devices showing - all mutiples of previously used access.
I have tried all solutions (that I can understand) on the forum but no joy.
Using a synology nas/sonos/alexa setup.
When I ask alexa to play music she says playing xxxx but there is no sound.
multiple other issues with plex make it almost unusable - this is just another glitch in a (very) long line of glitches

I installed VideoStream on my plex server and suddenly I could cast from the Web UI for plex.
