I have the latest Rocktek G2 Android TV box running latest Android TV 11 firmware. The box itself supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos/TrueHD and DTS-HD audio pass through.
I can confirm that in the current state, this box supports DV profile 5 only. No Profile 7 support which is what used on most UHD disc rips. TrueHD pass through works with Plex client. But DTS-HD pass through always end up with DTS 5.1 only.
The main problem I have with Plex client is with Dolby Vision Profile 7 movie playbacks. On Plex client version 9.13.0, it will detect that Profile 7 is not supported by the box and fall back to play HDR10 instead. In Plex client 9.13.1 or any later beta versions, it will always fail to play these same files because of an error. It seems Plex client no longer checks the box’s DV capabilities or something like that and will not fall back to HDR10 playback.
Looks like the device is only outputting at 1080p. My guess is it cannot decode dolby vision at that resolution. Did you maybe change the output on the device’s main settings to 1080p? Try setting it to 4K.
According to that log, the app tried to direct play the file and fails, just like in your previous log. But this time, the playback fellback to direct stream. It detected that DV7 wasn’t supported so it didn’t use it.
01-13 16:12:31.051 i: [FFmpegExtractor] Dolby Vision detected but not supported in HLS, changing to video/hevc (hevc).
So looks like 9.14 was unable to fallback. I’ll bring this up with the team to investigate.
