Ah... Hadn't thought about proxy support. I'll have to look into that..
dave
Awesome... thanks..
PS: Should it work with a username/password set in PMS ??? Over wifi without any proxy, I got an access denied ??
should ABSOLUTEY work in that configuration. Double check your username/password. I'm using it right this second from my office in that configuration.

Oooppss... I used the same DNS name/username/password I use with Plex IOS and Plexi.... and I get a popup saying:
System.Net.WEbException: The remote server returned and error: (401) Unauthorized at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse... etc...
*sigh* I don't know what to say... if you using RC1.3 (the latest) and are sure that your username/password are correct then I'm at kind of a loss.. Other people have this working..
Don't worry, I'm going to try at home tonight with another laptop... the one I use right now is a new Win7 we use in my company... I don't really trust it...
I will let you know... I also use the last RC 1.3
Many thanks, anyway... ;)
please let me know what happens!

I have the Windows PMS and have it successfully streaming over remote wifi/3g via the android App.
What does it take to get this to stream remotely to my laptop?
Ok Dave… here it is…
Another HP Laptop, Windows 7 Enterprise…
I just installed Bonjour and your RC1.3
On my local network at home, Bonjour works, found my Mac Mini, no problem at all, username/password ok
On the other hand, I tried to access my DNS name and my ‘outside IP’ from my LAN… and I get the same error 401: Unauthorized I had before…
I also tried Plex IOS & Klexi from my LAN with my DNS name, and it works without any problem… meaning, the PMS username/password should be ok
I also did one more test… I disabled the security in PMS… and it worked with the DNS name or IP without any password… hmmmm
It seems that I have problem with the enabled security, then…
Am I the only one ??? weird…
Hmmmm… I’m going to bring this laptop with me tomorrow at work, to test it from outside my LAN again… and I’ll let you know…
Nothing special. Grab RC1.3 (earlier post) and go. Since the Windows PMS doesn't support security, please be sure to leave username/password blank in the Server Selection screen.

Dave,
Thanks! My only question is do I need to open any ports to access the client remotely? On the android app I had to open port 32400...
nope.. You've already opened the right one!
-dave
perfect! I will try it out on an open network soon then (my work has a proxy like another poster I can't get around that).
Been looking at proxies… According to the docs I’m reading, the classes I’m using should respect the proxy settings in the Internet Explorer LAN page and should “just work”. Any chance those of you using proxies have that setting set to Autodetect as opposed to having actual proxy info?
-dave
Ok, with a username/password set in PMS, it works with Bonjour autodetect, on the same LAN as the PMS…
As soon as you’re on Internet, it works only without PMS Security… like the webserver… otherwise, access denied…
About Proxies, in my company, they use a special file with the settings… but I could use another proxy without authentication… but I should be able to specify it somewhere…
OK, it works from the Internet with a DNS name if the security is disabled in PMS…
On the other hand, no access from behind a proxy, credentials are required… it could be company related, though…
At my work (A Fortune 100) company, we use an automatic configuration script. auto detect settings is unchecked.
My work is very stringent, so I figured it wouldn’t work; although I can get my windows PMS via the browser to manage it http://mydnsdomain:32400/manage/index.html
would you object to me trying to get to your server? I promise to do nothing untoward but seeing where I fail might be instructive. Your call.

This is brilliant work Dave - thx big time
I installed the client RC 1.3 on my IBM almost 2Ghz and it went smooth… I have the following feedback/question:
A) FF during playback seems freek out the stream. Audio becomes out of sync and video bounces a bit and goes speedy. Note this may be due to my setup. My server is currently on wifi and also my client is currently on wifi, so this may be why… Let us know if something else has influence. My server is Mac Mini 2,56GHz.Finally my router is only G and client only G, where Mac is N wifi. So I am aware I may have bottlenecks, but others may too… Transcoding may solve this if configurable.
B) Controls: I would suggest that you stay true to keyboard control as is on Mac. Arrow left right = Fastforward. Arrow up down = even more FF etc. Cool feature could be integration to the iOS app. Similar to remote for itunes/airport. Select where to view and hence control - client 1,2 or 3 and default to the main Mac holding the server.
C) Full screen: could that be placed in a window. Double click toggles between window and fullscreen. ESC quit full screen. Anything else on windows does that. VLC, Media Player, Real Player etc…
D) For remote access - which url would i use?
xx.xxx.xxx.xx:32400
http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:32400
xx.xxx.xxx.xx:32400/plexapp
E) You mention configure PMS. I have local eksternal HD for movies at this time. I haven’t messed with PMS so far… Where exactly is the PMS configured. Max settings, plex settings and where? Is this neccessary for me using local drives?
F) Could you make the client automatically look for updates? and make the program install itself as default windows install, inside programs and create a desktop icon?
Thx. again media access around the house rocks. Didn’t mean to be demanding, just feedbacking B)
HB
G) during playback - if I toogle to another window alt+tab, video freezes, audio continues. When I toogle back the video continues as supposed…
H) My Bullguard anti-virus finds the client suspicious and continually asks me to permit. Playback goes into a loop da-da-da-da-da until I approve the Bullguard promt
