I read so much about Plex Cloud.
I know about beta and so on.
What i would like is to know how development goes on.
Is there the possibility to know something about how is it going or to have some updates from beta testers?
The best should be having posts about new features added and bug fix as it happens when new pms are released.
I’m very corious about Plex Cloud and i think also many other user, that are not in the beta program, are.
Tnx
Thank you for your post, fbrassin. As many others I am hoping every day to receive an invite. In the meantime I am transferring my media library to amazon clouddrive (3TB until now).
I understand well, that Plex needs time for testing and upscaling Plex Cloud, but it would be much easier to wait with more informations about progress and obstacles.
So I ask Plex to inform the waiting community on a regular basis about the status of plex cloud (e.g. once per week).
I would like to see them give read only access to all plex pass members to the Plex Cloud discussion area. That way we could at least read along the progress and development.
Short answer: there have been no updates.
Longer answer: we have been assured that the plex employees are working with Amazon to make things work smoother. I haven’t seen huge improvements yet and it still feels more like alpha than beta to me.
For example, it’s still busy adding my 150 TV shows,it’s done about 70 now. It’s that slow, with no signs of speeding up. Forget music or photos, won’t scan at all. Movies are fairly fast though and my 700 movies only took two days or so. There are several other issues with no solution yet,and that is probably why you don’t hear much.
@per_PLEX_ed
So you are a beta tester?
Do you have any comunication about changes in dedicated forum?
Yes to both
Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to reply. I don’t however have access to employee information, I’m just one of the beta testers.
As a fellow tester i can confirm at this time its far too buggy! I have 20 odd TB uploaded and it just cant handle large library’s.

Hi, how long did it take to upload that amount and at what speed? Thank you.
2 days to scan 700 movies? Oh boy.

If you’re not impressed with that, know that it’s taken Cloud nearly a month to scan almost 80 TV shows and that’s only half of what I’ve got on there ![]()
It sounds like it scans about as fast as I upload…which isn’t a good thing!
Here is hoping for the ability to allow locally scanned items to be uploaded with scanned info to the cloud (or at least the ability to sync the info)

If it’s any help I’ve got about 26 tb in process uploading to Amazon. I’m not on Plex Cloud yet, I run a virtual server with amazon connected through acd_cli as a mounted drive. I started uploading at 30mb/s three weeks ago. That’s weeks. I’m about 75% done. On the plus side, Plex works great using Amazon-hosted media.
Hi. I’m not on Plex Cloud yet but I’ve allready uploaded all of my content to Amazon (don’t have to much, about 2TB). I was wondering if it’s necessary to use a specific file structure (eg. drive:\Plex Media\Movies\moviename, drive:\Plex Media\Music\songname, …). Or doesn’t it matter in what way the files are stored?
From what i read, you should use the same structure as you have in your local server.

The same like on a “normal” Plex server (Naming Convention)

I was thinking about a similar setup; good to know that it performs nicely ![]()

Use the same structure as Plex suggests in their media prep article. I have multiple drives on my local server uploading into folders for movies, tv show, music, and sports. It looks like this:
Amazon: Plex/Movies
Home/movies1
Home/movies1UHD
Home/Movies2
Home/Movies2UHD
Amazon: Plex/TV Shows
Home/tv1
Home/tv2
Home/tv3
Home/tv4
It’s actually pretty nice this way. Whereas before I might have duplicate movies or tv shows across multiple drives, now on amazon they’re all consolidated and dupes are removed.
Any recommendations on software to sync with Amazon? My ideal scenario would be something like rsync, where I can just restart the process and pick it back up when it gets (inevitably) interrupted… with the added bonus of throttling bandwidth usage during certain hours.

Well my server is hosted in a Data centre with 1gb lines. So for a few days i left it uploading at 90mb/sec… Now i run it once every few days and limit it…
Ah this was done using rsync
