Plex Cloud - Sony TV Issues

Hi all,

Hoping for some help if possible.

Plex works perfectly on my Sony 40w605b with content from local server, however when I try to use Plex Cloud I get the following error;

This device does not support the secure connection required by Plex Cloud servers.

I tweeted Plex and they are telling me it’s a limitation of the TV/TV app.

Does anyone know how I can get round this? I’ve checked for a firmware update on the TV, but it’s on the latest.

It’s running through the wireless, but I don’t think wired/wireless would make a difference.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The Cloud FAQ states that only clients that support secure connections are currently supported. For Smart TVs and TiVo (only: LG [NetCast], Samsung [2016 models], TiVo [Series 6]). Now, that being said, I have a 2015 Samsung running Orca’s app, version 2.007 and it connects to the cloud server. I would go into the app settings and confirm you have it set to secure connection.

After re-reading your post, it would seem you’re stuck with hanging a Fire stick or Roku device off of that TV for the time being.

That’s a real shame, the Cloud was going to be ultimate solution for me.
