Does anyone know why some TVs cannot connect to my plex server. In this case its a Sony TV with Opera OS. Are there any settings that i need to activate or deactivate for the TV to connect to my plex server? Note that the connection is made from the Internet and not local network
There is no specific reason it shouldn’t work. Have you checked to make sure you linked the app to the correct account? Does it show up under the devices tab in Plex Cloud?
For the location with the problematic TV, can anything connect, such as Plex Media Player on a PC?
Maybe an issue with secure connections?
The Plex app on my LG TV does not support secure connections. I had to configure PMS with Secured Connections = Preferred before the TV app would see my PMS server. Note that the app would authenticate just fine w/ the servers at plex.tv and show up in Devices list. However, it would not access PMS until after the security change from Required to Preferred.
