Currently, I can already sync a particular movie to Amazon Cloud and it becomes available under cloud Sync within server selection. How is plex cloud different? Also, I noticed on Amazon Cloud that the plex movies I have synced are all labeled with random letters, symbols and digits with no indication of what the video files contain. Will plex cloud beta offer the same feature of randomally generated non-sensical letters or will the actual name be exposed. I’m concerned because even legally obtained or ripped DVDs could be construed as copyrighting by Amazon; therefore, violating there terms of service.
There are tones of threads up in reddit and plex forum about how this works…but again, Plex cloud is the Plex server itself running in the cloud(streaming to you, transcoding is done in the cloud as well). So no Local PMS syncing your content to cloud. PMS in the Cloud and you directly uploaded content to ACD. Cloud sync Requires you keep a local copie of the media.
As @saitoh183 mentioned, the biggest differences between CloudSync & Plex Cloud are as follows
- You no longer need to keep a local copy (CloudSync required this)
- Media in Plex Cloud can be transcoded on the fly if needed.
- Media no longer has be transcoded locally before being upload to the cloud (this is needed for CloudSync)
- and finally, the interface; with Plex Cloud you get the same feature rich interface as you would with a regular PMS; hubs,on deck, recently added, the ability to sort and filter, create playlist. Basically everything you couldn’t do with CloudSync.

And to this question, media is placed on ACD however you place it there, Plex Cloud does not provide a way to upload the media as CloudSync did. It is recommended that you follow normal Plex Naming Guides so the scanners can match the media.
